Courtney Cunningham grew up on Long Island, New York, the youngest of six children. A New Yorker at heart, Courtney has lived and performed around the globe and is happy to call Los Angeles her current home. She holds a degree in Classical Acting from Richmond University of London, England and is a graduate of the Dell 'Arte International School of Physical Theatre in California. She is co-founder of the international mask theatre ensemble Teatre Pape (Goteborg, Sweden), resident artist of Messenger Theatre Company (NYC) and touring member of Faustwork Mask Theatre (Toronto).
Courtney's performances have won numerous awards throughout the US and Canada. Her highly detailed approach to both comedy and drama have drawn comparisons to Gilda Radner, Carol Burnett, Lucille Ball, Lily Tomlin, Jim Carrey and Rowan Atkinson. Courtney won the award for "Best Actress in a Drama" at the 2009 Albuquerque 48 Hour Film Festival. In June of 2010, Courtney wrapped three months of work on the Coen Brothers' remake of "True Grit" after being considered someone who could "hold her own with Bridges and Brolin" (Backstage Magazine's Casting Standouts of 2010).
